Test Procedure
Avise Personalized Medicine Services consist of laboratory blood tests performed exclusively at the certified medical laboratory of Cypress Bioscience in San Diego, CA. The process begins with the completion of a Test Requisition Form. Accurate completion of the requisition form is important as it allows for faster processing and billing. An overview of the steps to prepare and ship a specimen are listed on our Sample Preparation Guide [pdf].
Special transportation kits are available which include the following to ensure samples arrive in good shape:
- Cold Pack (must be frozen and inserted into carton before shipping)
- Outer shipping bag and prepaid shipping label
- Plastic bag containing sachet for liquid absorption (for specimen tubes)
- Other materials included: Patient information brochures, submission checklist, and blank test requisition.
This diagram illustrates the process for having an Avise test performed. Samples are normally processed in two business days of receipt of the blood sample, with result information dispatched back to the physician as soon as possible.
